| Failure to use the CMYK color system. Some spot/PMS colors are not accurately represented in CMYK. Notably, metallic colors, some oranges and some greens are not well represented by CMYK. If your files use these spot colors, it will be necessary to contact you to determine if you wish to change your design, or run our closest, albeit not accurate, CMYK match. We recommend using the Pantone Process or Trumatch color systems for color selection. Use of RGB rather CMYK color modes. All color correction should be done in CMYK color modes. We receive a large number of RGB mode. Some applications packages automatically output these scans as CMYK while other packages simply print the RGB scans as black and white. The applications packages that do the conversion don't do a good job of maintaining colors and large, unacceptable color shifts often are the result. Make sure to convert all RGB scans or modes to CMYK mode. Failure to make your files bleed when required. In most desk top publishing programs, making an image bleed is as easy as placing all images such that they extend 1/8 inch beyond the border of the page. Though it is easy to set your files to bleed while you are creating your piece, it is time consuming to alter your design once it gets to us. For example, if you final size is 5"x7" you should size your canvas at 5.125"x7.125" - making sure your images extend to the edges. This will insure that the piece will bleed correctly after the trim process. If you do not do this, you may end up with a white border around your final piece. No customer hard copy 'PROOF' submitted. Without a proof we cannot determine if what we are about to print is correct or not. When no proof is provided, we have no guide as to how you want your lines to break. Without a current proof, we don't know if a type reflow is the result of a last minute edit, or a difference between our default settings and yours. We will try to contact you for final clarification of any discrepancy. However, if we cannot reach you, we may have no choice but to delay printing your job. We operate three shifts, and may be working on your job while you are unavailable. |
